CoSyn Technology
In 1991, the Colt Companies and Syncrude Canada Ltd. formed an alliance, and CoSyn Technology was created. Based in Edmonton and the Syncrude facility, CoSyn supports Syncrude’s Fort McMurray operations.
This alliance is a long-term commitment to specific
business objectives, and uses the resources of both parties to improve their core businesses.
CoSyn is responsible for providing a broad range of engineering and project services – all work performed by CoSyn is for our one and only customer, Syncrude.
Syncrude Canada
Syncrude Canada Ltd. is the world’s largest producer of light sweet crude oil from oil sand. The Athabasca Oil Sands, in which Syncrude operates, is believed to be the world’s largest deposit of oil. It contains 1.7 to 2.5 trillion barrels of oil, of which 175 billion barrels is recoverable with current technology.
As conventional oil reserves decline, the Athabasca Oil Sands will continue to have a growing role in the energy sector. Syncrude currently meets about 13% of Canada’s petroleum needs; in the next 8 years, production will account for 25%. Syncrude is one of the largest private sector employers in Alberta, with 4 200 people employed directly and 14 000 indirectly across Canada.
CoSyn Technology
CoSyn provides engineering and procurement services to several strategy centres including Base Plant Mining and Extraction, Aurora Mining and Extraction, Upgrading, Utilities, Facilities and Research and Development.
CoSyn’s business success is heightened by employee ingenuity. Our staff value having a management team that actively encourages and recognizes those who incorporate innovative thinking into their work.
Looking Ahead…
CoSyn attracts and maintains highly-qualified and involved staff to ensure that we meet our commitment to quality, value and the needs of our customer. Where practical, it is our policy to promote staff from within. However, CoSyn has grown and recognizes that, to gain efficiencies in the delivery of the full range of engineering services and to increase the quality of the final deliverables, we require additional senior engineering and design personnel. In order to maintain our position as the leader in oil sands
engineering we are committed to finding and developing quality people wherever they may be.
CoSyn Technology is an exciting company to work for at a time when so much is being invested in the oil sector. The oil sands is quickly becoming the cornerstone of the Canadian energy industry, and presents a rewarding future for people with industry knowledge and experience.
