Conventional Oil and Gas Production

The design and construction of conventional oil and natural gas production systems has been a core strength of Colt since 1973. We have successfully completed thousands of projects for a wide range of field production scenarios. Natural gas design flow rates have varied from small to 4 BCFD in capacity, and oil production rates have varied from hundreds to over 150 000 BOPD.

We constantly strive to use the latest technologies to meet the economic and environmental challenges facing the energy industry.

Our clients include independent and major multinational oil and gas producers and midstream processors.

Scope of Services
(Conceptual, DBM, FEED, EPCM, EPC)

Colt provides the full range of services, from early studies through to detailed design, procurement, project management and construction of gas production and processing facilities.

We can also provide commissioning, start-up and post-start-up operations support for our clients.  For existing operating facilities and pipeline networks we can provide similar services for modifications and additions to these operating systems to improve or increase their economic production capabilities.

Typical Project Experience

Natural Gas Production

Colt routinely manages projects that start at the gas well, with production flowing through a pipeline gathering system with intermediate compression and processing (hydrate or dewpoint control) and then to a central or final gas processing facility.  Once processed, the gas is often further compressed and transferred through a buried pipeline to an ultimate sales or custody transfer location within a major pipeline distribution grid for ultimate consumer use.

Recent projects have varied from relatively small multi-million dollar capital expenditures up to projects valued at over $4 billion.

At Colt, we often provide our clients with a full EPCM or EPC service where we not only plan the project to the client approval stage, but also provide all detailed E, P and C/CM services including start-up and operations support services.  Colt is one of very few companies that routinely provides this complete service to our clients in Canada.

Oil Production

Much like our natural gas projects, typical oil production projects are initiated at the wellsites, which may include single wells or multiple well pads tied into a pipeline gathering system, flowing to multiple satellite gathering points and on to central 'battery' processing sites.  Custody transfer and metering occurs at the battery where the oil is transferred to a pipeline distributor for ultimate transfer through a pipeline network to an oil refinery.

Recent projects have varied from modifications to existing facilities and addition of new producing wells with associated new pipelines to existing or new treating facilities.  Existing facility modifications can be small and involve a few new producing wells up to new grassroots oil production systems up to over 100 000 BOPD.  Oil-producing fields also often contain natural gas, which must also be processed and shipped to a separate market.
