Gas Processing

Our clients include independent and major multinational gas producers, midstream processors and pipeline transmission companies. Recent projects include

Talisman, Petro-Canada, Shell, CCR Technologies, Statoil, and Chevron.

Project and Business Drivers

The industry continues to address the technical challenges associated with new reservoirs. Further afield, offshore

and deeper wells require deployment of advanced expertise in all disciplines.

Expertise and Scope of Services

Since 1973, Colt has designed and constructed thousands of natural gas production and processing projects for a broad range of clients worldwide.  Project design flow rates have varied from small to 4 BCFD in capacity.

Colt provides the full range of services from early studies through to detailed design, procurement, project

management and construction of gas production and processing facilities.  We can also provide commissioning, start-up and post-start-up operations support to our clients. For existing operating facilities and pipeline networks, we can provide similar services for modifications and additions to these operating systems to improve or increase their economic production capabilities.

Design Applications

We have employed a wide range of gas-processing technologies to meet the economic and environmental challenges facing the natural gas industry:

  • Gas-gathering pipeline systems
  • Field gas compression facilities
  • Mainline gas compressor stations
  • Integrated wellsite production to central processing systems
  • MEA, DEA, DGA, MDEA, sulphinol, molecular sieve and FlexsorbTM sweetening processes
  • Deep cut design for ethane, propane, butane and pentane plus recovery
  • NGL recovery using refrigerated lean oil absorption
  • CO2 recovery and injection
  • Hydrate inhibition, flow assurance, MEG reclaiming and waste solids management
  • Tie-back line modelling and simulation
  • Dehydration using DEG, TEG, silica gel and molecular sieve
  • Flue gas desulphurization
  • Pipeline hydrate control (MEG, methanol)
  • Gas compression (gas reciprocating, gas turbine and electric-driven, reciprocating and centrifugal compressors)
  • Water treatment and disposal
  • VRU designs to mitigate pollution and safety concerns
  • Sulphur plant
  • Liquid and solid sulphur storage systems
  • Solid sulphur conditioning for transportation
