The Subiaco Alliance, made up of Burns and Roe Worley, Water Corporation and John Holland, has won within a week of each other the:
  • Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) Achievement Award for 2004 and;
  • 2004 Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust) Engineering Excellence Award in the Environmental category.

The Project Management award was announced at the annual AIPM WA Chapter Award Dinner on 27 August, whilst the Engineers Australia awards was announced at the Engineering Excellence Awards Dinner in Perth on September 3 which signalled the grand finale to Engineers Australia Engineering Week for 2004.

These prestigious awards recognized the Subiaco project for capturing and removing odours from the Subiaco Wastewater Treatment Plant, expanding it in size, modernising much of the plant and reducing operating costs. It was finished ahead of a very aggressive schedule, came in under budget, and exceeded all target performance standards set for it.

Subiaco was Burns and Roe Worley's major water project for 2004 and one of our most successful ever. The project will be entered for the National Engineering Excellence Awards in November.
