Our European operations encompass the UK, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Russia, Spain, Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Romania. During the past 12 months we have seen significant growth in personnel in Bulgaria (45% increase) and a 15% increase in INTECSEA.
Operations in Europe
Key health, safety and environment recognitions awarded recently include the Silver Award from the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents and the International Safety Award from the British Safety Council. Major safety milestones achieved this year included four million hours worked without a Lost Workday Case on the Tengizchevroil project in Kazakhstan.
Our Hydrocarbons sector has experienced ongoing growth in the mega-projects portfolio to include the Integrated Gas Development Project for the ADNOC group of companies, the pull-through award of the next phase of the Kashagan development in Kazakhstan and the lead office for the first chemical complex in ChemaWEyaat’s Chemicals Industrial City in the United Arab Emirates. Additional growth was experienced in the offshore sector through the award of the ConocoPhillips Jasmine Project and Chevron’s Rosebank Project (INTECSEA) in the United Kingdom.
Recent Select contracts awarded in the past year include the Kårstø refinery and LNG onshore plant for StatoilHydro, an FLNG study and a number of Sulphur Recovery Unit projects including the Angarsk (Rosneft) Refinery project in Russia and a debottlenecking study for Dovletabad in Turkmenistan.
Our power operation continues its successful relationship with NEK in Bulgaria through the extension of our architect-engineer role into the project execution phase of the Belene nuclear power plant. Geographical focus has been expanded with the key award of the Armenia and Egypt Nuclear Power Plants. Technology expanded in Europe through the award of the EPCM contract for 880MW gas turbine combined cycle power plant in Varna, Bulgaria. Our European power operations also continue in renewable energy with ongoing work in the solar sector in Spain.
WorleyParsons EcoNomicsTM division in Europe and Africa in conjunction with alliance partners has won an Indefinite Delivery Agreement with the International Finance Corporation that has already resulted in a number of climate change risk case studies and engineering risk assessments. EcoNomicsTM has also been awarded contracts with the World Bank, Shell and the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute.
Our Minerals & Metals business consolidated its position in Kazakhstan over the past year through its ongoing provision of engineering and project management services to Kazakhmys plc.

Contract award for 4,000-Megawatt nuclear power plant in Turkey WorleyParsons has reached agreement with Akkuyu NGS Elektrik Üretim Anonim Şirketi (“project company”), to provide consultancy services during the preconstruction phase of the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Turkey through to the end of April 2013 when the construction permit is scheduled to be obtained.
Consultancy services contract for nuclear power plant in Turkey  ChemaWEyaat PMC contract award for Tacaamol Abu Dhabi National Chemicals Company (ChemaWEyaat) has awarded WorleyParsons the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) contract for the Tacaamol Aromatics Project. ChemaWEyaat and WorleyParsons entered into a long term frame agreement for engineering and management services in January 2009 and this award further builds on that relationship. WorleyParsons’ London and Abu Dhabi offices will be the primary resource centers for this project.
