Sulphur Management

WorleyParsons offers the complete range of sulphur management capabilities, technology and experience, including sour gas treatment, acid gas cleaning, sulphur recovery, flue gas desulphurization, sulphuric acid production and bulk sulphur handling and transportation.

These capabilities are delivered to customers in all business sectors in which WorleyParsons operates.

For downstream hydrocarbons processing, WorleyParsons brings over 50 years of experience in sulphur recovery unit (SRU) design to our customers.

Globally, we have designed and built more than 500 sulphur recovery plants accounting for approximately 60% of the world’s production of recovered sulphur. These facilities include the world’s largest single-train units and apply processes developed and patented by WorleyParsons, augmented by processes licensed from several other companies.

WorleyParsons provides the complete range of processes for primary sulphur removal and tail gas purification suited to all process conditions and environmental requirements. We have redesigned and revamped many existing sulphur facilities to achieve capacity increases using oxygen-based technology (SURE) and other techniques, and to meet more stringent environmental standards.

WorleyParsons has engineering teams with extensive operations experience to provide our customers with operations assistance for SRU start-up and shutdowns to ensure safe, rapid, and reliable operation. To maximize plant reliability, WorleyParsons utilizes remote monitoring programs and regular downloads of operations data are analysed by our engineers to ensure optimal performance.
